The New Way of Marketing – Twilight Photography

Twilight Photography

When it comes to marketing your home, the photography is of utmost importance! Become extraordinary!

6 hot interior trends (32)

Presentation is everything

Imagine you were working for a catalog photographing products, would you publish photographs with a stain on a sofa, stained living room floor or a home with blown bulbs? A home is a product for sale, just like everything else, it should be marketed to entice customers and get it noticed. When you add in the glow of the interior lights, some nice exterior lighting, and an amazing sunset full of color and vibrance, it helps with not only being noticed but detracts away from the negatives such as bad curb appeal.

Daytime or Twilight?

Here is a comparison for you to compare. Every home will photograph differently, but in this example we have a daytime photograph and a twilight image.

The daytime photograph is very good you can target the spring and summer market with it’s beautiful bloom of flowers in the garden, but with the twilight it has strong colours and great lighting, standing out in the Winter market, and when looking at property portals such as Zoopla and Rightmove it is the Twilight one that will stop you from scrolling and stand out against other homes in the same area.

Different types of Twilight

So you have the daytime shot, which works extremely well if you capture the property on a sunny day, especially with homes that have ocean views – which we are very lucky to have here in Aberystwyth! They look great when the sun is hitting them. There are different times of the day when a home can look it’s best. There is the “golden hour” and “blue hour” these are both from early morning shots to evening.

Sunsets

To capture the perfect exterior shot – sometimes there is no plan and you have to jump at the chance when the weather is on your side. (And with our luck being in Wales is not that often!) There are different parts of the day where visually appealing images can be shot. Waiting until the sunsets, showing a range of different oranges, pinks, yellows. Even on a stormy night you can capture the sky being purple and dark blue. Doing some research the night before of what the weather is doing can help but like I said before, sometimes it can be down to chance.

As a photographer, sunsets are the most featured photograph in print and online, they are very appealing and have a calming/relaxing vibe about them.

So just about any home will look better at twilight than it will during the day, and they will stand out in any marketing campaign, adding that extra level of glamour that can take a home from ordinary to extraordinary!

Of course there are some negatives to Twilight Photography. There is this old saying “If it was easy then everybody would do it”. Great pictures require more effort but getting up early in the morning before the sun or staying out in the cold until the sun goes down really does pay off when you get a shot with the most beautiful colours and a property that looks so appealing!

In conclusion, how do you make your property stand out from the rest? If you have a visually appealing home but awful outside and curb appeal you will be one of the 100s of listings that get ignored and scrolled past daily. The long exposures and slick lighting create emotion and build property dreams, making you think that life could be an eternal sunset drink on the deck, or a warm cup of tea by the fire!

  1. They make your home stand out against the rest on Zoopla and other property portals
  2. The vibrancy helps with not only being noticed but detracts away from the negatives such as bad curb appeal.
  3. When it comes to marketing your home, the photography is of utmost importance as that is what gets clicks and gets people to book viewings.
  4. With the market being slow in the Winter months it is important to keep people interested and up to date with the seasons.
  5. Great photographs require more effort and the effort does not go unnoticed when a property looks so appealing.
  6. A sunset photograph has a calming and relaxing vibe about it, getting your client to already imagine their life there, how their life could be warm and relaxing.
